Michael and Sara Marry At Brier Creek Country Club on a Lovely September Day

Sara and Michael wanted a comfortable, casual, rustic ceremony.  They wanted traditional elements for their ceremony, too, so that it would be comfortable and meaningful for their families as well as for them.  They succeeded on all counts.  Their wedding party was made up of easy going people who complemented their generous quiet nature and were close to them.  Sara's uncle from New York, Tom Kightlinger, a professional DJ, was their DJ for both the wedding and the reception, and he did a fabulous job.   It was definitely a fun celebration that everyone enjoyed.

Thank you to Sally Siko of Silvercord Event Photography / Creative Imagery Services for her superb photographs so you can really how just how wonderful this occasion was.

Brier Creek Country Club has a lovely outdoor setting for a wedding which looks over the golf course, and the addition of the yellow daisies created a joyful, playful effect. The drapes looked diaphanous blowing in the breeze which added to the whimsy and charm of the setting as well as offering privacy and showcasing Michael and Sara and their wedding party against white instead of green..
Part of their ceremony says, 'Enter your marriage confident in the love and trust you have already created between you.... Keep you love alive with your openness to each other and your enthusiasm for each other."  I so believe those words.  I'm delighted that they chose them.
Sara and Michael chose lovely classic vows: "I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health.  I will love you and honor you all the days of my life"  that seemed to fit them and the clear thoughtfulness and consideration they have for each other.
It is with joy that I pronounced them husband and wife, saying then, 'May your way be blessed, may wisdom's light shine upon you, and may your journey bring you peace.'  And then I invited Michael to kiss his bride.
I think they had just as much fun with this kiss!  I encourage them to practicing their kissing skills all their lives.  You can never get enough practice!
Michael and Sara have a comfortable, playful, vibrant love.  I wish them many many years of happiness and joy!
To give credit for their wonderful flowers we laud Jo Lynn Truesdale of Victorian Seasons.

Carol and Erik Marry at Brier Creek Country Club With Love All Around Them

Erik and Carol were disappointed at first that they had to move their wedding indoors because of rainy cold weather this October.  But their ceremony was elegant and comfortable in this room at Brier Creek Country Club. As soon as they saw the room they knew that everything would be fine.   Riley MacLean was their wonderful photographer.  I've worked with Riley before and he and his assistant have a wonderful eye for what is just the right photograph.  I was so glad he was here because this room presented some lighting challenges that he was able to overcome.
Carol and Erik experience the divine through their relationships with the people in their lives who are close to them, and the room was full of friends and family there to wish them well, and to bless and support their marriage.
Their friend, Erika, gave the funniest liveliest rendition of Taylor Mali's 'Falling in Love is Like Owning a Dog' that I have ever heard.  Everyone loved it.
Over the five years they've known one another they have spent more time together in those years than many couples spend together in a lifetime.  They work together and live together and yet this has brought them closer together than they ever thought possible.

They've created a strong loyal partnership and a deep and abiding friendship.  We celebrate that, too, in their wedding.

A special part of Erik and Carol's exchange of vows was the Celtic Handfasting ceremony.  Carol had beaded their handfasting cord in the mauve and green colors of their ceremony and it was gorgeous.  I forget how many thousands of beads Carol told me was in it.
With each 'I will' response to the questions I ask them in the ceremony, I tie another knot in the cord, in essence 'tying the knot of their marriage' or 'binding their hands together in marriage.'

Here's a picture of their cord next to the vase that held Carol's bridal bouquet.

When Erik and Carol exchanged rings as a token and symbol of their vows, they said to one another, 'I give you this ring as a pledge of my love and as a symbol of our unity.'

After I pronounced the married with the words, 'You have formed your own union, in friendship, in respect for one another, and in love, and is it therefore my joyful task to pronounce that you are married,'  they shared a wonderful kiss.  My photographer friends ask me to tell the couple that a 3 second kiss is just about right if they want to get a good picture.  And they got a great one.
They're a dear couple and it was a joy to watch them celebrate their marriage in even those very first moments.  As a happily married woman myself who is still celebrating after thirteen years I relish the joy other couples find with each other.
Their mothers signed the marriage license.  Both lovely ladies.  Carol's mother also created her wedding program to look just like a Broadway playbill.  It was very creative and lots of fun.
My favorite picture of them is the first one on this blog, but I love the one below, too. Thank you again, Riley for finding just that calm after the rain to capture some lovely outdoor pictures, too.  Carol and Erik are special people, openhearted and kind.  I'm so glad their wedding was just what they wanted.  And I send them much love for many years of happiness.
To give credit to some other wonderful wedding professionals at their wedding:  The English Garden was their florist, and Eric Hodgden of All Around Raleigh DJ was their DJ for the reception and the ceremony music.  I've worked with Eric a lot, too, in one case where the bride hadn't chosen the music but left it up to him at the last moment and he was wonderful.  It's also a joy to work with him.  Their Maid of Honor, Beckie, made their cupcakes.  Wow!  What a huge and lovely gift for them.

Ross and Beth Light Up The Day at The Brier Creek County Club

I loved Beth and Ross's wedding.  They are such a wonderful couple, playful, kind, considerate.  And that showed so much on the day of their wedding when there was a problem and their wedding coordinator didn't show up.  I will always be indebted to their DJ, Lenny Fritts because, between us, we filled in the gap and everything went smoothly, and there were about 7 attendants on each side as well as formal seating of Ross and Beth's parents.  Lenny Fritts was wonderful!

This is a picture I took of Ross's father's formal wear.  It's not the tartan plaid for their Scottish clan but it came close.  And indeed he looked debonair!  This is the only picture I took.  These other pictures were taken by our wonderful photographer, Leah Charbonneau Photography! Thank you, Leah!  Also, all Beth and Ross's flowers were by Tre Bella Florist.

It was a very hot Memorial Day weekend but The Brier Creek Country Club is a wonderful setting for looking cool when it's not.  Beth and Ross created a wonderful ceremony that was personal and warm.  I loved their Declaration of Intentions and offer it to you:

Ross, do you take Beth to be your wife,
Knowing in your heart that she will always be your friend,
Your partner in life, your one true love.
On this special day, do you give to her
In the presence of your friends and families
Your promise to stay faithfully by her side as her husband
In sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow
As well as through the good times and the bad.

Do you promise to love her without reservation, to honor and respect
her
To provide for her needs the best that you can
To protect her from harm
To comfort her in times of distress
To grow with her in mind and spirit
To always be open and honest with her
And to cherish her as long as you both shall live?

Answer: I do.

In the Preface to their Vows we wove what was important to them in saying,

'You are each marrying your best friend.  To give yourself in love to the person you have set your heart upon is a great moment in life.  Your lives and doubly enhanced in the sharing of them.  You appreciate the goofy playful side of each other, and love the daily life you share together, the simple pleasures shared with each other and your families.'

Then they spoke their own vows making us all laugh as they vowed to love in each in spite of supporting different football teams and other personal quips.  Amid all the lovely formality, theirs was a fun playful wedding that represented them perfectly.  As Beth goes back to teaching this fall and Ross begins law school, I wish them all my best for a wonderful life!

When they got back from their honeymoon, I got this note:
Robin, We just wanted you to know that we both truly appreciate you. Everyone still talks about our ceremony and you. Our wedding would not have been the same without you in it! THANK YOU!!

I thank them, too.  They were a delight.

Nick and Barbara at The Brier Creek Country Club

This was Friday evening July 23rd and it was pushing 100 degrees. We were all so hot yet I'm amazed at how wonderful these shots of Barbara and Nick turned out. Thank you to Michelle Gunton Photography for these fabulous pictures. Now I can see why she says that she always prefers outdoor weddings, no matter how hot it is. Of course as soon as the wedding began, even though it was still warm, we all pushed those thoughts from our minds and just concentrated on the joy of seeing Barbara and Nick so happy and in love.

And the Brier Creek Country Club is a great place for a wedding. Their staff is wonderful and attentive, and their facilities for the couple being married are excellent. This is the second wedding I've done here (the other in the fall last year) and both have gone incredibly smoothly.
And the outdoor site is lovely. Here's Michelle taking pictures after the ceremony.

Garrett, from Lenny Fritts DJ, set up for the ceremony music. The parents were seated to 'Con Te Partiro' which was really beautiful. I have to remember that one. Then the traditional and equally wonderful Purcell's Trumpet Voluntary and Pachelbel's Canon in D were played for the wedding party and Barbara's entrance.

Nick and Barbara wanted a classic wedding and it had that elegant simplicity and beauty. Even the words for the exchange of their rings, 'I give you this ring in token and pledge of my constant faith and abiding love' were touching in their purity.

As we said in a final benediction of blessing upon their marriage, 'May God bless you and keep you. The peace of the Lord we with you. Congratulations! Go in peace.'
